If the next animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse plans to feature 240 different spider people , as noted, so pretty much any variation of the Spider-Man character will likely appear on the movie screen. the first trailer of the film has certainly showcased dozens of recognizable iterations of Spider-Man (some of which were even taken from best movies about spider man ever made), from the Spider-Man costumes that video game users can try on in the Sony Playstation game to one of my favorites, Peter Parker with a paper bag over his head. It’s a long story. But now there’s a new poster for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verseand standing front and center next to Miles Morales, Gwen, and the new main characters we’ve already come to expect, we see Ben Reilly aka The Scarlet Spider, and it got us thinking about the clones.
First, here’s the GREAT new poster, from Sony image animation .
At the far left of the billboard, next to Miguel O’Hara (Oscar Isaac) and Jessica Drew (Issa Rae), is Ben Reilly, aka The Scarlet Spider. Reilly’s name it was included in some roundup of sites that speculate on Spider-Man: Across the Universe problem in addition to those already confirmed. But it’s Ben’s position on the poster that makes us think he could be a bigger character in the upcoming sequel than previously thought.
Ben Reilly is an important character in the contemporary Spider-Man lore. One of the biggest stories to hit the wall crawler in recent years was The Clone Saga, when he appeared as a clone of Peter Parker…and it created a lot of confusion as to whether he was the real Peter or a real clone. . As one might imagine, this took a toll on the already dubious Peter Parker, and created a twisted thread that fans loved to draw from.
In the books, Ben Reilly couldn’t become Spider-Man. But he also couldn’t stop fighting crime. So he adopted a new nickname, The Scarlet Spider, and wore a costume that has become very popular with Spider-Man fans.
Posters are not designed by accident. Sony wants to pay special attention to the characters joining Miles Morales for its sequel, including Spider-Man 2099 (Isaac), Spider-Woman (Rae), Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld), and apparently Ben Reilly. However, there is currently no voice actor associated with Ben Reilly Polygon wrote earlier this week that Reilly would be a clone of Jake Johnson’s Peter B. Parker, which makes sense and adds a whole new level of difficulty to what this beloved Spider-Man might have faced when he’s back in his universe The end of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse .
The multiverse is going to be pretty daunting to deal with. If the team behind Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse This will be the first on-screen Spider-Man film to tackle the clone saga, so we’ll be on an extremely special journey once the film hits June 2.
