We waited a long time for our reunion with Amy Adams’ Giselle after the 2007 hit Enchantedand now we finally have a first look at its next Disney + sequel. In the first trailer of disillusioned (above) and set to air this fall, Amy Adams’ Giselle still sings with animals in skyscrapers, but she and Patrick Dempsey’s Robert are preparing to start a new life away from the Big Apple. However, her new home is a “superior fixer” and her problems lead Giselle to seek out the magic to solve her problems.
As we see in the first look at the sequel, when old friends James Marsden, Prince Edward and Nancy Tremaine, played by Idina Menzel, are shown their new home and new life, Edward gives Giselle a way to make a wish and turn things around. . I work for you. However, when he decides he wants a “fairytale life”, everything goes “terribly wrong”, as Giselle puts it, suburban life begins to feel like a place straight out of a storybook. And, in a wild twist, Giselle appears to become the stereotypical “stepmother” of her adopted daughter, against her wishes.
As you may recall from the 2007 film, when Giselle falls in love with Robert, she also develops a romantic relationship with her young daughter, Morgan. When we go back to disillusioned, Morgan is now grown up and is played by Gabriella Baldacchino in place of Rachel Covey, as well as having a new child with Robert. However, as all of these fairy tales appear in her new city after Giselle’s wish has been granted, such as talking animals, musical numbers and fantastic ball gowns, she starts doing terrible things to Morgan, like locking her up in rooms and shoving her down the wells. . . .
