Kate appointed Colonel of the Irish Guards by Charles III

The Princess of Wales has obtained a military title previously given to her husband.

While waiting for his first birthday parade, scheduled for June 17, 2023, Carlos III paid military honors to various members of his family. Kate, Princess of Wales, was thus made a Colonel of the Irish Guards.

Formed in 1900 by Queen Victoria, the Irish Guards is an elite regiment of light infantry and one of the foot regiments of the British Royal Guard. Since she entered the royal family, Kate has paid tribute to them regularly.

Kate inherits a title previously held by William, now a Colonel in the Welsh Guards. As a colonel in the Irish Guards, William inspected his regiment on behalf of Elizabeth II and participated in rehearsals for the Trooping the Color parade.

Meanwhile, Camilla, the queen consort, has been made a colonel of the Grenadier Guards. The Trooping the Color parade, scheduled for June 2023, will be the first of the reign of Carlos III.
