On January 25, Florent Pagny announced that he was ending his tour due to cancer. On Instagram, the 60-year-old entertainer confided to his fans that he had been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his lungs, forcing him to begin six months of chemotherapy and X-rays.
Almost a year after this announcement, the relatives of Florent Pagny, including his wife, Azucena Caamaño, will return to this painful ordeal in the singer’s career, in the documentary Florent Pagny, a free manthat will be broadcast on January 1, 2023 on TF1, and that the free lunch was able to see the program in preview.
“I was preparing his funeral”
As reported by the newspaper, Azucena Caamaño explains in this documentary how her husband found out about the diagnosis of his lung cancer, as a result of an X-ray performed due to a strong cough, after contracting Covid-19.
“There he calls me, he was preparing his funeral. I tell him: wait, stop, it can be anything, wait until you know a little more, to do the studies you need, calm down, ”he explains in the documentary. according to free lunch.
Then the diagnosis falls: “Suddenly (…) things get worse, it is not operable, it is an ugly tumor. We will have to attack with violent treatment,” adds Azucena Caamaño.
“An explosion”
Thus, Florent Pagny was forced to announce his illness to his fans as well as the cancellation of the remaining concerts of his 60th anniversary tour. “He begins to rehearse his speech,” explains his wife. Then the artist recorded his message for Instagram.
“Five minutes of video, I tell him that it’s not going well, he begins to give details, he almost gives the name of the laboratories (…) And then the children say no, dad, an Instagram message for no more than a minute and a half” says Azucena Caamaño.
Following this publication, the singer had received many messages of support, including those from the presenter Nikos Aliagas or even from his friend, the singer Patrick Bruel. The latter also relies on the documentary that learning about this disease was “an explosion” for Florent Pagny.
Back on stage in 2023
During his six months of treatment, the artist continued to keep his followers informed about the evolution of his state of health. Last October, Florent Pagny gave positive news: “Every time I feel better,” he said during the Taratata 100% Live concert, dedicated to the fight against cancer.
And to add: “Normally, if everything goes well, next year we will finally get together to sing”.
The singer has since also announced in mid-December that she will resume music and will soon be touring festivals across France this summer, starting with Festival de Nîmes, on June 30, 2023.
