Taylor Sheridan succeeded with the yellow stone franchise, with the hit western drama spawning even more successful spinoffs. The latest iteration created by Sheridan follows the Duttons through Western expansion, Prohibition and the Great Depression, and the cast of 1923 it includes some big names like Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. Now Sheridan has talked about how he managed to convince them to participate in the show.
Sheridan is no stranger to big names starring in his shows, having had country couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill 1883with a few more great cameos along the way, not to mention Kevin Costner yellow stone! She told Terme the crazy story of how she convinced Ford and Mirren to do it 1923, and it was determined:
Truth? I called him and told him to come to my ranch, and he just flew off. I did the same with Hélène. . . . He flew down. I said, let’s do it together. You say I can read a script? I said, you can when it’s written, but it’s not written yet and you have to commit now. I need to know who I’m writing for. I don’t wonder who I’m writing for anymore, and I have to try to chase the person I had in mind, and I can’t get her because she’s doing a fucking show on Netflix. I don’t do that shit anymore.
Harrison Ford may not receive offers like the ones Taylor Sheridan presented to him, but the success of yellow stone shows that the 1923 the creator knows what he is doing to create successful programs. It also seems like Sheridan got fed up with not being able to pick stars due to his busy schedule on other shows, so she was upfront about that potential issue with Ford and Helen Mirren!
His persistence has really paid off, as Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren have joined the new series. Sheridan continued the story:
So are you going to do it or are you going to watch Chris Cooper do the next big thing? What do you want to do? I poured him about two bottles of wine. He said yes. I put it on the plane as fast as I could, wrapped up the deal and said, send me the next one. Then came Helen, and the same thing. Have a glass of wine.
the 1923 premiere proved Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren made the right call, as he expanded the yellow stone universe and premiered to an audience of more than 7 million, according to The variety. with eg james links to star Timothy Dalton as the villainous role of Donald Whitfield and likely more surprises in store as the season progresses, fans have a lot to look forward to.
1923 marks Harrison Ford’s first major role in television, as well as a series of made-for-TV movies. The role precedes next year’s new comedy. Contractionwhich will be streamed on Apple TV+ with a subscription starting January 23. Meanwhile, Helen Mirren has dominated the big and small screens for the past few years.
