More than 25 years after its release, the singer’s famous hit broke the record for the most listened to track in one day on Spotify with 21.27 million streams on Christmas Eve.

As indicated in the chart data On twitter, the artist’s song broke the record for the most listened to song in one day on Spotify with 21.27 million views on Christmas Eve. A record to which Mariah Carey was quick to react on Twitter.

Title of “Queen of Christmas” and accusation of plagiarism

Released in 1994 on Mariah Carey’s fourth album, Merry Christmas, All I want for Christmas is you it has sold 14 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling Christmas song by a female artist.

Written by Mariah Carey and Walter Afanasieff, this title grossed more than $60 million, according to magazine estimates. Forbes in 2019.

Mariah Carey, who now capitalizes on this time of year and the success of this song, had also attempted to register “Queen of Christmas” status as an official trademark, but this application was denied.
