Season 2 of the white lotus It may have already aired, but fans still have it fond memories of the characters from both seasons , especially when it comes to Alexandra Daddario and a memorable white bikini. Daddario’s character Rachel notably wears the look during a pivotal moment on the HBO show where she’s just been verbally decimated by a teenage couple and she decides she’s had enough of being beaten up by them. .
if you saw the white lotus Season 1 (or if you don’t have minor spoilers), the scene in question shows Paula (Brittany O’Grady) and Olivia (Sydney Sweeney) lounging around the pool, where they meet newlywed Rachel. Daddario’s character is a bit out of place in this world of rich and poor, and Paula and Olivia understand this and strike up a conversation about Rachel having a rich husband. It seems to Rachel that the girls are laughing at her, but instead of lying down, she pulls her thick pole out of her: her rocking body of hers.
The scene would have been memorable even if it weren’t for the bikini, but with the bikini it became iconic. In a recent interview, Daddario spoke with men’s diary on your opinion of what is happening in the scene and why you think it was so relevant to so many people. She said:
Rachel takes off her clothes and finally shows her body, as a kind of revenge, it’s a lot of fun because it’s a constant power struggle. The show is about this constant struggle for power between all kinds of people. It’s animal instinct. Even when her husband, Shane, is at the pool, instead of hanging out with her, he chats up the young women. The thing is, we’re all instinctively jealous little animals, and we make these mistakes that we don’t even know we’re making, and we try to justify them, and we don’t look at our place in the world and our effect on people.
Daddario also noted that he could relate to what the character is going through during the scene, noting that it is human nature to want to “win” at all times, especially when a person is feeling “judged”. (Or be literally judged outright, as Rachel was in that now-famous scene.)
We are all the same at the end of the day, this instinct to win. “I see I’m being judged” or “I see I’m in a conversation where I’m not winning, so what’s my trump card?” And that’s how Rachel feels. The response you get from your gaze is such that you know she’s there. And in that situation, she says, ‘Okay, here!’
Alexandra Daddario is not the type to hesitate for a moment in a bikini , so it was somehow fitting that she was the actress chosen to play Rachel. It also follows a line of roles Daddario landed that allowed him to “embrace” her sex appeal. And even though he said he tried to take what it’s good for [her] career” of the conversation around her body, Daddario said sometimes it takes its toll .
But clearly, she’s still proud of the white lotus phase, after recreating it with Sydney Sweeney since the episodes first aired on HBO and HBO Max subscribers . She too credits the white lotus with the resurgence of his career noting that it had been in a bit of a free fall in the past, as highly anticipated projects like it Baywatch failure
