While all the high-flying scenes are inside Top Gun: Maverick were impressive, another element that influenced the huge success of the sequel was the athleticism of Tom Cruise and company. It showed. This was best illustrated in the infamous beach soccer scene. This scene was not new to Dissident Greg Tarzan Davis, who spent his high school years playing soccer before focusing on acting. But obviously Davis and the Young Stars and, according to him, Cruise really “set the standard” and it was just great to work with them.
Fans already knew about the rigorous flight training Tom Cruise gave the cast (and the thought alone is exhausting). Greg Tarzan Davis, who played Lt. Javy “Coyote” Machado, spoke about the competitive nature of casting on the set of the hit sequel while being interviewed by CBS Sport. He explained that most of the stars were former high school athletes, including the protagonist of the film. Davis likened Cruise’s intense training regimen to running a preseason NFL team to a Super Bowl win. So, essentially, Cruise was playing the quarterback role. But Davis let go of that Mission Impossible the star was more than this:
Tom Cruise is the quarterback. He is the coach. He is the GM. He is the owner. He is everything. But what makes him so great is that he wears all the hats in this film, from actor to producer to full-fledged director, but he’s been in the trenches with us every step of the way. So you’ve never felt disconnected from “Oh, he’s here and we’re here”. It was like, ‘No, I’m here with you all.’ So when it came to doing the flight sequences and going into the room to report what we had done, he sat there and explained his mistakes. He was flying a lot higher than us, to show, like, ‘Hey, I’m trying to make sure it’s okay, that’s how it’s going, so I can go back and say, if that’s where Effed gets up, try not to that. Or, “He worked fine, go ahead and see if you can too.” He put the joint.
Considering 60-year-old Tom Cruise’s involvement in his projects, it’s no surprise that he was able to fill all those roles without disconnecting from his co-stars. Doing reckless stunts to show his young co-stars the right and wrong way to fly high-speed jets seems like something he’d definitely do. After all, he looks like a natural leader. (Plus, he has a habit of performing dangerous stunts on and off the camera.)
The Jack Ryan Alum seemed to take being an offscreen flight instructor as seriously as Maverick did onscreen. He clearly loved Greg Tarzan Davis and the company. knowing that you were with them during the learning process. They had to be as prepared as possible when it came to flying fighter jets for the future of aviation. That’s why the action star is where it is: it’s intense, but it all comes from a well-meaning place. And with this him Dissident The cast has many fond memories of filming the sequel with the Hollywood icon.
Greg Tarzan Davis, in particular, must have become very close to Tom Cruise, as he had the chance to work with him again on Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part One. with whom it joins MYSELF classics like Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg and Rebecca Ferguson. It could be assumed that Cruise was as much a leader on this set as he was when he was working Dissident and based on the outcome of his films, I’m glad the actor is “setting the level” the way he does.
The audience can see these intense aerial combat scenes from Top Gun: Maverick watch the movie in theaters or buy it in Digital HD.
