With the end of Marvel’s Phase Four and a new roster of upcoming Marvel movies Expected to arrive in 2023, we know that the “Big Bad” projected for this new narrative period, dubbed the Multiverse Saga, will be Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors. A variant of the character was introduced in the first season of Lokibut the actions taken by Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and, above all, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), will trigger the arrival of the Kang we saw in the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania trailer …and it seems much more difficult. That said, knowing Marvel is also planning to introduce The Fantastic Four in 2025, fans are assuming their legendary antagonist Doctor Doom will follow suit, and one fan went ahead and guessed that he would be played by Adam Driver.
Even casual Marvel fans should be familiar with Doctor Doom, as the character served as the main villain of the previous two on-screen iterations of the Fantastic Four. Victor Von Doom, in the on-screen versions of the story, accompanies Reed Richards and the rest of the Four on their manned space mission that encounters cosmic rays. Lightning has different effects on each team member, transforming them into Mister Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Human Torch and The Thing. Meanwhile, Doom is horribly disfigured by the accident and vows revenge on his former friend turned rival, Reed.
Previous films have struggled to make Doctor Doom. Toby Kebbell, who played Doom in Josh Trank’s ill-fated film, has many opinions as to why. his version of the character didn’t work . But the casting wasn’t really the issue, as Kebbell and Julian McMahon (from the Tim Story films) are decent actors. Hell, McMahon says he wants to play the character again .
However, adding a talent like Adam Driver could take things to the next level and we can totally understand why Marvel Studios might consider Driver for the role. For one thing, he’s already a part of the Disney family, having played Kylo Ren in all three of the studio’s Skywalker Legacy sequels. Perhaps some people find it lazy to make Driver another high-profile villain. But Doctor Doom wouldn’t have the same kind of redemption arc that he wrote for Kylo Ren, so Driver would have a lot more (and different) material to work with. And just like Star Wars, there will likely be some great actors to star with, as Marvel needs to cast SOMEONE as the Fantastic Four, finally putting an end to all the endless casting rumors.
the instagram photo above is awesome and basically uses Kylo Ren as inspiration. Could Marvel Studios continue down this path and bring Adam Driver into the MCU as a future villain ready to make life terrible for Marvel’s heroes? Time and Kevin Feige will tell.
