The NFL community and its legions of fans watched in horror Monday night as Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field following a collision, needing to be revived by emergency medical personnel before being transferred to a nearby hospital. we saw the championship avoiding the problem of concussions in the past, but rarely do you see a professional footballer go into cardiac arrest on the pitch, in front of a crowded stadium, in Monday night football. Fans and media following updates on Hamlin’s condition have tweeted endless support for his health…but indisputable co-host Skip Bayless, who has previously faced cancellation, tweeted wondering how the game could be made so late in the season. This angered many, including (we assume), Bayless’ indisputable co-anchor and NFL veteran Shannon Sharpe.
The flames of speculation flared Tuesday as Shannon Sharpe failed to show indisputable, leaving hosting duties to Skip Bayless. The host addressed the insensitive tweet without fully apologizing, saying his intent was misinterpreted. Well, Sharpe returned to the show today and had the word to address the absence of him. As you can see, through this Tweet by The NBA Center it didn’t go well:

As you can see, just as Shannon Sharpe goes so far as to state that she wished Skip Bayless had deleted the Tweet, Bayless cuts her off with a “timeout” and says she has no intention of deleting the Tweet because she defends what she says in the tweet. Bayless is known for hot shots of him, and has been for years. But there’s no need to duplicate the Tweet message while Sharpe has his turn to weigh the matter. He is a former football player and his thoughts on field injuries would likely resonate with a number of people watching. And yes, it’s in the nature of the Undisputed show that these two hosts are constantly interrupting each other. But this time it was too much for Sharpe.
The former NFL player responded to Skip Bayless:
I mean, I can’t even finish a monologue without you interrupting me. You could have come back… Skip? Jump? I was just going to say, Skip, I didn’t want yesterday to be a situation where Damar Hamlin was the problem. We should have talked about him and not entered your Tweet. This is what I was about to do. But you also can’t let me finish my opening monologue without you interrupting me.
Things got uglier and seemingly more real as the conversation continued. An apparently offended Skip Bayless accused Shannon Sharpe of agreeing before the taping not to mention the tweet because she believed management had no problem with what was said in the post. However, if Bayless was only looking on social media, he would find many people disagreeing with his Tweet about him, including several pro athletes calling for him to be fired. At the very least, the network could suspend him like ESPN did Bill Simmons at the time.

The fallout from this is likely to continue and saddest of all is that a controversy like this only improves the ratings of a show like indisputable and encourages Skip Bayless and guests like him to say and do crazier things to keep the debate going.
