Former repeat thief, became a painter and then an actor in The innocent of Louis Garrel, Jean-Claude Pautot was arrested in Spain at the end of December in connection with the seizure of more than a ton of cocaine in the Azores and in the Paris region, reports the JDD.
A dozen people were also arrested in Spain and France. The Spanish authorities, who have worked in collaboration with the French Anti-Narcotics Office, will make an official statement next week.
From prison to the Champs Elysées
Jean-Claude Pautot, 66, spent more than twenty-five years of his life in prison and fifteen years on the run. A figure of French organized crime, he made a name for himself multiplying bank robberies and attacks on armored cars.
In 2012, his discovery of painting, in prison, changed his life. Renowned for his art, he was interviewed in 2018 by Léa Salamé on the program Amazing!
Jean-Claude Pautot also exhibited at the same time at the Galerie Revel on the Champs-Élysées. He also recounts his life in two comics, facing the walldesigned by Laurent Astier before establishing artistic relationships with JR and Louis Garrel.
