Star Trek: Enterprise got a second look from many fans, as now they can all see them all again Emigrate shows with a Paramount+ subscription. While some may have changed their minds about certain stories or characters, many still feel the ending was a slap in the face for devoted fans. There’s a chance to remedy that in this golden age of new shows. However, John Billingsley just shared some honest thoughts on the matter that are far from optimistic. During this time, he also revealed that he almost returned as Dr. Phlox.
I had the opportunity to speak with John Billingsley, who will be one of many star Trek stars attending the Trek*talks 2 telethon on Saturday 14 January. In addition to talking with Billingsley about his upcoming “trektivism” panel and telethon to raise funds for the Hollywood Food Coalition, we talked about how this modern era of Emigrate could give Agency correct submission was never given years ago. After asking the star about the show’s chances of having a true ending (or agreeing to an ongoing series project), she listed a few hurdles standing in the way:
I’ve never seen that happen. Okay, now that all shows are on the air, an audience that didn’t find us found us later. But, I fear, given the vicissitudes of age and the nature of the fact that there are already myriad iterations of Star Trek and more in the works, there is no more room in the ecosystem, so we can go back now.
The 62-year-old actor made a valid point, as there are many star Trek content on the horizon. also with picardy ending after Season 3, there is a Starfleet Academy series in development that could take its place and a Section 31 series is also still on the table. And these are just the productions that we know of. So if one star Agency isn’t cryptic about an impending live-action return, there’s little reason to expect a sequel or some sort of proper series finale.
Even if these ideas are out of the question, star Trek fans know that some characters may still appear in other shows, especially since the aliens have a long lifespan. John Billingsley’s Dr. Phlox is a Denobulan and they can live up to 280 years. This means that the correct doctor is probably alive to the timelines of many of the newer ones. Emigrate shows that Billingsley’s theoretical return would however boil down to a few factors necessary on his part:
I don’t know if I would really want to be a regular on the show again, maybe on a TV show where there weren’t 22-26 episodes just because the rubber head is heavy. I’m not entirely sure I want to start the prosthetic process all over again… It could be in one of the animated shows. Then you just have to have the voice of Doctor Phlox. What would I be happy to do.
John Billingsley does not want to repeat the prosthetic process, a fact which could disqualify him from any direct retaliation from Dr Phlox. Fans will recall that Billingsley has publicly stated that he turned down an offer to appear in the critically acclaimed film. strange new worlds (through fresh bleeding), although he said at the time that this was because he was asked to audition.
But the star Trek The faithful might be surprised to learn that the star was once again approached about appearing in the franchise, but once again declined. Billingsley spoke about how she plans to treat the franchise Agency and his legacy and revealed the other amazing series he turned down and why:
I think many fans of the franchise have rediscovered Enterprise. I’m not entirely sure if the powers that be creating Star Trek have, I won’t say love for the Enterprise, but maybe also a strong memory of the Enterprise… [I was asked to appear] two episodes on one of the anime series, I think it was Prodigy, which I turned down because it’s an anime series, if you’re not a series regular, frankly, it doesn’t pay much. So I don’t think it’s on anyone’s radar screen.
I’m intrigued by the idea of him reprising his role of Dr. Phlox in Star Trek: Prodigy. The origins of Dal’s Augment are related to aa Agency history, so that one can see how this connection might be made. I’m definitely a little disappointed to hear that the fan-favorite star wasn’t on board to reprise her role, but I understand her reasons for dying. I also hope that one day he and his colleagues get the closure they deserve.
star Trek fans can look forward to more stories like this and more informative tidbits during the Trek*talks 2 telethon. There, John Billingsley will participate alongside other notable cast members from the franchise such as Scott Bakula, Anson Mount and Jonathan Frakes, to name a few.
