“Let them be a little respectful.” Jordan Bardella, president of the National Association, reacts this Monday on BFMTV to Indochina’s position. The French rock group reported on Saturday threatening to withdraw from the Les Déferlantes Festival if the musical event is held in Perpignan, a RN city directed by Louis Aliot.
“He is deeply sectarian and disrespectful to the thousands of his fans who are probably also National Rally voters,” Jordan Bardella said. “When you’re an artist, you don’t play politics. You don’t classify the people who come to your concerts based on their political views.”
“Perpignan is a city of 121,000 inhabitants,” he continues, denouncing a “totally discriminatory attitude” that he considers “shameful.” “Probably among these 121,000 inhabitants there are people who love Indochina. I would like these artists, who have earned a lot of money thanks to the generosity of the French, to be much more respectful of political opinions that are private opinions.”
Indochina stands “in front of the fait accompli”
The festival Les Déferlantes was originally going to take place in Céret, in the same department of Pyrénées-Orientales. The decision to change the location was taken by the organizers to improve the “comfort” of the festival goers and to adapt to the “ambitions of the festival”, specifies a press release from the management.
“Yesterday morning we found ourselves before the fait accompli, that the Les Déferlantes Festival, where we have scheduled it to take place on July 8, will move to Perpignan instead of the initially planned site”, lamented this Saturday on social networks the group directed by Nicola Sirkis.
“Last night, the mayor of RN de Perpignan tweeted that he was happy to host the Festival Les Déferlantes,” the group continues, before formulating their ultimatum: “We expressly ask the management of Les Déferlantes to move this festival to another location, otherwise otherwise we will cancel our visit.”
