The American singer Nick Carter, known for being part of the Backstreet Boys, unveiled this Wednesday a title in tribute to his younger brother Aaron Carter. The latter, a former child star who fell prey to the tabloids, was found dead in his California home last November, aged 34.
In this new title titled It hurts to love you (“It Hurts to Love You”), Nick Carter evokes his troubled relationship and the helplessness of seeing a loved one in trouble:
“I always hoped that your tomorrow would be better than the days before / I hoped that you would find a way to go / A place to be happy in this world,” he sings in particular.
On Instagram, the 42-year-old artist posts a video in which he appears in front of a wall on which images of the two singers as children are projected. “We all have someone in our life who we will love no matter what it does and no matter how much it hurts,” he wrote in the caption.
Millions of albums sold
Born on December 7, 1987 in Tampa, Florida, Aaron Carter began his musical career at the age of 7. He was 9 years old when he released his first album, fall in love with youin 1997. Published in September 2000, Aaron’s Party (Come Get Him) it sold three million copies in the United States and immediately propelled him into the pantheon of teens and tweens.
He secured the first parts of the Backstreet Boys or Britney Spears. In 2001, his album oh aaronin which he sings a duet with his brother, had been certified platinum.

Success faded with adulthood, and Aaron Carter’s life took a darker turn: the guardian reported drug addiction. AFP mentions a drug treatment in 2011.
In 2013, caught up in the tabloids, plagued by debts, including taxes, he filed for bankruptcy. He had also been in a lot of trouble with the authorities, mainly for possession of narcotics and dangerous driving.
His relations with his family had also deteriorated: according to the BBC, Nick Carter had obtained a deportation order against his younger brother in 2019, who he claimed threatened to kill his then-pregnant wife. Aaron Carter said he was “astonished”, assuring that he “does not want to hurt anyone”.
Group and solo race
Aaron Carter had a son with his fiancée Melanie Martin in November 2021. Last September, he confided in the Sun that they had lost custody of him and that he had entered a new rehabilitation program to get him back.
Meanwhile, Nick Carter found success in the 1990s with the Backstreet Boys. The group is still active thirty years later, but has released three solo albums since 2002.
