The Olympique de Marseille announced this Thursday night the signing of a “collaboration” with the “D’or et de platinum” label of the Marseillaise rapper Jul, the best-selling in the history of French rap, whose logo will appear on the shirt of the player.
“The collaboration will also enable the creation of unique experiences and exclusive content for Olympic supporters and fans of the artist,” said a statement issued by the club overnight from Thursday to Friday.
“Marseille is my city, OM is a passion. This collaboration is a true childhood dream, ”Jul adds in this press release, after announcing this“ madness ”to her fans a few hours earlier on her twitter account.
A figure of Marseille
According to figures from the National Union of Phonographic Publishing Houses (Snep), “Le J” accumulates 582,635 cumulative sales, with seven solo albums in the Top 200.
A great seller, Jul is also the one who unified the Marseille rap scene through two projects: “13’Organisé” (2020) – 436 million views for the “Organized Band” clip on Youtube – and “Le classico Organized” (2021) . The first is a collective album of Marseille artists, the second a kind of “battle” with Parisian rappers, modeled on the OM-PSG football classic.
The analogy between rap and soccer does not end there. In June, Jul packed the Stade Vélodrome, home of OM, for a three-hour show. Like the obvious meeting of two monuments of the second city of France.
On Wednesday, OM achieved its fifth successive success in Ligue 1, to consolidate its 3rd place in the standings. In the name of the 19th day of the championship, the Olympians will face the “hakes” of Lorient on Saturday at the Vélodrome stadium, a meeting during which they will therefore wear the emblem of the Jul label for the first time.
