Xavier Dolan says he wants to take “a long break” after the broadcast of his new series

“I have always made films with a frenetic pace, not because I was forced to, but because I wanted to create, I had a lot to say. Now I have less to say ”, he assures the France Inter microphone.

And to add: “I gave everything, I feel like I said everything […] I have to rebuild and rebuild myself, look for other passions. I want to take care of myself. I need a long rest.”

“I need a change”

Despite this break, Xavier Dolan reveals that he will continue working on various series projects that currently do not have a scheduled release date.

“If they see the light of day, all the better (…) but I need change, silence, rest and privacy,” says Xavier Dolan.

Composed of five one-hour episodes, the series The night Laurier Gaudreault woke up -adapted from a play by Québec playwright Michel Marc Bouchard- tells the story of Mireille, who returns to her family after the death of her mother.

This tense meeting brings to light a secret buried thirty years earlier by Mireille, one of her brothers Julien, and her best friend, Laurier. On the launch side, The night Laurier Gaudreault woke up brings together Julie Le Breton, Magalie Lépine-Blondeau, Éric Bruneau and Patrick Hivon, the same cast as the original work.

They are joined on screen by Julianne Côté and Xavier Dolan, who also finds one of his favorite actresses. ana dorvalpresent in five of the director’s films.
