the famous rapper dr.dre won a case against controversial US congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who had used her song without her consent Still DRE in a political communication video.
In this message posted to Twitter on January 9, Marjorie Taylor Greene appeared in her office in the first family liner notes for this hit released in 1999, featuring Snoop Dogg.
Dr. Dre then sent a letter, through his lawyer, Howard King, to the congressman, a fervent supporter of Donald Trump, to remind him that he had not been asked to use his piece in this video.
“Using ‘Still DRE’ without permission is copyright infringement. You, as a member of Congress, are expected to be familiar with the laws of this country,” Howard King says in this letter.

According to The Guardianlawyers Marjorie Taylor Greene claim to have received the mail and say “that on behalf of MP Greene, […] Mr. Young’s (real name Dr. Dre) lead would no longer be used by his political committee or any social media the congresswoman has access to.”
Shortly after sending his letter, Dr. Dre also spoke out strongly condemning the political positions of marjorie taylor greeneaccused in particular of disseminating Conspiracy theories extreme right and have occupied violent antisemitic comments against Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives.
“They are mistakenly exploiting this work through the different social networks to promote their political program of division and hate,” he had released on Twitter.
And to add: “I don’t concede my music to politicians, especially someone as divisive and hateful as this.”
