The last eleven acts of America has talent Season 17 has officially unveiled its final performances and the verdict of who will receive that million dollar award and the Las Vegas stage show is up to the voters. The finale saw the long-awaited return of country singer Drake Milligan, who wowed judges and voters alike in the first week of qualifying with his second original song of the season. For the finale, however, Milligan went back to the first original she played for him AG hearing. Speaking with Gossipify, he explained why he didn’t switch to a new song.
Milligan sang until the end of August with “Kiss Goodbye All Night”, but her first AG the output was “Sounds like something I would do”. Fans might have expected him to continue the trend and deliver another original song, but instead opted for another take on “Sounds Like Something I’d Do”. (You can review the former with a Peacock subscription.) After her appearance on stage during the finale, she spoke to Gossipify and other outlets. When asked why she chose to bring this song back instead of “Kiss Goodbye All Night” and if there were any alternatives, she shared:
There was. I mean, I have a record coming out this week on the 15th, and it has a lot of new songs in it, and we were looking for songs to do, but after that live performance, we did “Kiss Goodbye All Night”. to have this staging and to have the energy and the lights and the pyrotechnics and all that. It’s so funny and I feel it elevates a song so much that I didn’t get a chance to do it with “Sounds Like Something I’d Do” at the audition, so I really wanted to give this song a chance to shine.
Time AG Viewers had seen “Sounds Like Something I’d Do” before, it was during Drake Milligan’s audition, when practically only he and his band were on stage for the pre-recorded show. Qualifying was live, and it was definitely exaggerated in the best way. He nailed “Kiss Goodbye All Night” so well that Simon Cowell praised him for not putting it down AG (and Milligan explained why he made that decision); Returning to the audition song for the finale gave him the opportunity to get a lot bigger and a lot bolder.
In fact, it was something like what NBC did earlier this year American song contest, which saw singers return to elevate their own song over and over again. The America has talent the judges certainly didn’t blame Drake Milligan, as Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel praised him for bringing back “Sounds Like Something Id Do” for a second round. Sara James, who was Simon Cowell’s Choice.
Also, ventriloquist Celia Muñoz hasn’t backed down AG viewers gave her the votes she needed to return and her last performance was far from her Great tribute … not in the negative! Polish dancer Kristy Sellars kicked off the night with an incredible number, which she had to put together over the course of a week after trying out a new makeup for last Tuesday’s live show.
