HGTV stars Jonathan and Drew Scott are hard at work on theirs brother against brother series, and apparently the competitive nature of this long-running show has led to quite a bit of internet roasting. In fact, Jonathan Scott recently had his moment of glory with a fashion choice his twin made while filming, and he hasn’t let it go, even across multiple platforms.
It turns out, if you want to locate a Property Brother, you need look no further than their mode choices. This week, Jonathan Scott (the brother who is dating Zooey Deschanel) took to social media to share a look at his TV co-star and twin brother Drew. The image may seem innocuous at first glance, but Jonathan had a hidden agenda in mind: to call his brother about a sweater that’s too tight. Have a look.
Ummm… yes or no with @MrDrewScott’s construction sweater 🤣 pic.twitter.com/BxUPm5oGVrJanuary 18, 2023
I mean, it’s a tight sweater. Trendy, but is it practical? In his view, Drew Scott would wear a skimpy sweater for the kind of work he’s supposed to be doing brother against brother: construction. Not to meet a client or interview, but to get the job done. Sure, he wants to look good on TV, but Jonathan and many of the team seem to agree that appearing might not be the best option.
In fact, the tweet wasn’t the end of the roast. Then Jonathan, the older of the two four-minute Property Brothers, posted a video to his Instagram Stories highlighting how the crew felt about that tight sweater. In the video, Jonathan asked everyone, “Does anyone think Drew’s construction sweater is arguably small and tight?” Most of the crew raised their hands and agreed with Jonathan’s guess.
Except this guy, who broke away from the pack and was a proponent of skimpy sweaters! Look at him, determined not to raise his hand!
The crew member defended himself in a hilarious exchange with the HGTV star, noting:
A random guy on the team: “I think it’s great.”
Jonathan Scott: “It’s terribly small! [Then to Drew] You should bring a glass of cognac or something.
what a roast Many fans also commented on Jonathan’s post with their own opinions, many to the effect of “that’s a no from me”. It turns out that many fans seem to agree with the owned brothers star, and one even turned jokes about Drew into a compliment for Jonathan.
Jonathan, I think Drew’s sweater and many of his shirts are too small for him! I love the outfits you wear! You are in great shape!
Whoa, I’m thirsty, random fans. Another fan joked about the reality of building in a TV show versus building in real life.
I wonder how many construction workers show up for work in clothes like this? I have to wear high visibility where I live, steel boots/shoes and a hard hat. Guess this is the world of TV for you, hey.
Hey, reality TV never said it was real or even practical!
Though the brothers didn’t always agree on their employment decisions (Drew, for example, hated the name owned brothers initially), in general the two brothers have a very good relationship and also tend to be sentimental human beings. However, one thing that excites me more is those specific jokes from Scott when new episodes of brother against brother hit the TV show Wednesday nights on HGTV. Season 8 just premiered in early January, so there should be a lot more where that came from.
