The decision to change the distribution model would have been prompted by recent screening results. One could imagine it bogeyman 20th Century Studios thinks it’s a family-friendly counter-program to the animated hits, and we’ll just have to wait and see if their gamble pays off. If the rumor turns out to be legit, the film could become a sleeper hit that will stay in the Top 10 at the box office for a few months.
