How Max Thieriot’s Land of Fire is already crushing more than ever in 2023

With seemingly more and more TV shows suffering from season 1 cancellations these days, especially in the world of streaming It’s certainly harder than ever for creators and stars to feel safe. But no one is involved with CBS land of fire However, you have to worry a lot about the immediate future, as it is more overwhelming than ever in 2023. Not just character-driven drama get a season 2 renewal earlier this month, but it’s also bucking normal TV trends by continuing to grow its core audience throughout the second half of season one.

More specifically, land of fire is celebrating its biggest three-week run in terms of viewership stats and demo ratings, with two of the episodes in question drawing the biggest late-night audiences for the young series. (All of which leads up to what will likely be the most-watched episode of the season, but further down the line.) Ahead of its midseason premiere on Jan. 6, land of fire was like many other freshman dramas, with its highly publicized first series garnering its largest audience at the time: 5.91 million overnight viewers and a 0.4 demo rating among adults 18- 49 years old. But while those stats didn’t change until late December (directed by star Kevin Alejandro ), the drama’s return to CBS in the new year managed to draw even more eyeballs.

What is important to note here is that although preliminary statistics for “Mama Bear”, as reported by TV spoilers , putting its viewership numbers lower than the series premiere, it’s entirely possible that the episode’s final numbers will be high enough for it to be the third most-watched episode to date. If so, then 2023 is already a banner year for land of fire. (Just keep fires away from the highly flammable banner.)

Also worth noting and celebrating, even beyond the impressive late viewing stats above, is this land of fireThe winter premiere marked the first time the show had managed to reach a wider audience than its Friday night sequel. Blue blood. The latter drama has long been one of CBS’s least talked about arms, boasting as consistent an audience as any drama could hope for while boasting a 10pm Friday. And while that win hasn’t been repeated in the past two weeks, the fact that Bode & Co. only outscored the Reagan team once was unexpected.
