Fun seems to be on the menu when Paramount goes wild Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Thieves, and the latest trailer demonstrates the humorous tone of the cast and filmmakers which will also be balanced by impressive visual effects and creature designs. It shouldn’t be too surprising. Co-directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein come from a comedic background (which they discussed in our exclusive interview) and have injected just the right amount of humor into their screenplay to spider man: homecomingone of the best films in our ranking all spider man movies never out. But it’s exciting to see them branching out to a new IP, and this seems like the right way to approach Dungeons and Dragons history in 2023.
Enjoy the new trailer above.
They first trailer to Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Thieves also banked on the Led Zeppelin classic “Whole Lotta Love” from the band’s debut album, And If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It. This catchy tune with its heavy beat fits perfectly with the action of the new Dungeons and Dragons trailer: action that, according to Chris Pine, is inspired by jackie chan movement . Chan isn’t who I think of when I cast Chris Pine in a D&D movie, but my mind is open to the possibilities.
What strikes me most about this new and more complete Dungeons and Dragons trailer Here’s how the effects and creature design were improved (presumably because the effects house had more time to tweak them). And it’s not just your standard dragon or furry beast. At one point, there’s a log that opens up and has razor-sharp teeth and a long tongue chasing after Michelle Rodriguez. The main villain, pictured above, appears to command an undead army and wields the power of sorcery that summons mythical-looking beasts. It all looks a lot fancier than I expected. And that’s a good thing.
But we’ve always known that that Paramount has great faith in the work that John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are doing. They brought Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves to San Diego Comic-Con for a panel and an extensive interactive exhibition of taverns which allowed fans to immerse themselves in the world of the game. In addition, it was recently confirmed that the film will be shown at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin in March, casting an even brighter light on what Paramount is likely hoping to be. the launch of a fantastic franchise.
Yet, Dungeons and Dragons will target a crowded market, as many blockbuster films are set to release in 2023 and look to make an impression after the uncertainty of the last few years. When D&D opens on March 31, theaters will already be drawing crowds John Wick: Chapter 4, Shazam: Fury of the Gods, Sixty-fiveYup cry VI. There are a lot of options this year, so keep checking our guide for 2023 Upcoming Movies update.
