These days, Shannon Sharpe is best known for her unique commentary on the biggest events in the sports world. However, the pro football hall of fame found itself in the headlines over the weekend following an altercation that occurred on Friday. The Fox Sports media personality got into a fight with several members of the Memphis Grizzlies during their game against the Los Angeles Lakers last week. The situation quickly went viral and Sharpe now acknowledges her actions and apologizes.
Late in the second quarter of the game, Shannon Sharpe engaged in a war of words with Grizzlies players Ja Morant, Steven Adams and Dillon Brooks. Morant’s father Tee also joined the jocks on the bench as they faced Sharpe. The talk show host was eventually escorted by security into a back hallway of the Staples Center. He would stay there until halftime before stepping back in for him early in the third quarter. He explained that from there they started swearing at each other before others got involved.

The Lakers and Grizzlies organizations, LeBron James, Dillon Brooks, Ja Morant, and fans in attendance and watching at home were among those he addressed. Sharpe also apologized to his family and stylist, who were in attendance for the match. While those involved don’t appear to have responded to the sentiments as of this writing, fans seem to appreciate Sharpe’s candor. It’s the second time this month that the Fox Sports talent has made headlines following controversy. It would appear that the former tight end’s situation is turning out very differently from that. We can only speculate how the Lakers, Grizzlies or any other party involved will respond to his comments. But at this point, the former athlete deserves credit for not having backed down in the face of the situation and for having tried to redeem himself.
