Actress Eva Green at the center of a legal battle after the cancellation of a film

The French actress was going to star in a science fiction film – a patriot– before production was finally halted in October 2019. Now he is claiming his stamp in court.

French actress Eva Green is at the center of a legal battle in the UK to reclaim her fees, despite a film being cancelled, her lawyer believes on Thursday the production company is trying to pass her off as a ‘diva’ that she is not

The 42-year-old French actress, star of Royal Casino in 2006, he was going to star in a science fiction movie – a patriot— before production was finally halted in October 2019. She is suing the production company, White Lantern Films, claiming she is entitled to her million-dollar fee for the film, despite its cancellation.

But the British production company decided to counterattack by launching its own legal action against the actress, considering that she had made “unreasonable demands” and damaged the production of the film. The trial, which began on Thursday, is expected to last eight days.

“Cunning Sociopath”

The actress’s lawyer, Edmund Cullen, told the judges that Ms Green “did everything she could” to get the project done because it dealt with “an issue that is of great concern to her, namely the climate disaster “.

But lawyers for White Lantern Films believe the French actress expressed a “lack of trust and dissatisfaction” with members of the production team. She was “increasingly reluctant to get involved”, in violation of the contract.

They justify their accusations based on WhatsApp messages in which Eva Green allegedly calls a member of the production team “evil”, “devious psychopath”, “liar and crazy”. She also reportedly called production manager Terry Bird a “jerk” and “a washed up jerk”.

“Headlines”

“This case is designed to portray my client as a diva to grab the headlines and damage her reputation,” Cullen said, calling the charges against his client “extraordinary.”

“She repeatedly agreed to postpone the start of filming. She agreed for production to move from Ireland to the UK. She repeatedly offered to use part of her fee to finance production costs,” he listed in his written remarks.

For him, White Lantern Films wants to “blacken the name of an actress who has not violated a contract or lost a shooting day during a 20-year career.”
