The Boogeyman trailer has us all excited for a super spooky adaptation of Stephen King

During his official announcement, Rob Savage bogeyman it was planned as a Hulu exclusive. Now, however, things have changed. The film, based on the Stephen King short story of the same name, did so well in test screenings that Disney decided to release it theatrically. It’s now the first King adaptation to hit theaters in 2023, and the new trailer only makes us more excited.

What mocked by Stephen King himself last week the first look at bogeyman made its NFC Championship Game debut today, and it looks like we’re in for a surprise this summer. With a cast that includes yellow jackets‘ Sophie Thatcher, Chris Messina, David Dastmalchian and Marin Ireland, the story centers on a pair of sisters who discover an evil presence living in their home after their mother’s death (a very different setting from the source material).

To accompany this trailer, Stephen King has also uploaded the theatrical poster of bogeyman. It’s a simple design, but it evokes memories of the titular monster lurking in our bedroom closet, and to that extent, it sure is effective:

bogeyman is the third film directed by Rob Savage, whose previous two films were part of the screenlife genre (in left Yup Research). It first gained attention in 2020 for its Zoom session feature. Guestand monstrous chaos followed last year dashcam.

Stephen King’s story, first published in the 1978 collection “Night Shift”, was adapted by A quiet place team Scott Beck and Bryan Woods and Black SwanIt’s Mark Heyman. It’s an impressive behind-the-camera horror pedigree, and this preview has us all excited about what they’re up to.

Now, bogeyman it will be the first Stephen King adaptation to be released in 2023, but it won’t be the last. While the film doesn’t have a scheduled date yet, Gary Dauberman’s version of lot salem should be published before the end of the calendar year. Along with the recent announcement of King’s next novel, hollyhits bookstores in September, Constant Readers has a lot to look forward to in the coming months.
