Zachary Levi’s Pfizer Tweets Made DC Fans Wonder if He Was Sabotaging Shazam On Purpose

Social networks have become a place where everyone can expose themselves to the world. Unfortunately, sometimes what people post isn’t always what they’re looking for, and that can lead to serious backlash. Over the weekend, Zachary Levi received a lot of negative responses to a tweet about pharmaceutical company Pfizer that might indicate he’s taking an anti-vaccine stance, but even crazier some might suggest this criticism was provoked on purpose.

It’s not so surprising that an ostensibly anti-vaccine stance leads those on the other side to criticize Zachary Levi, but it’s perhaps not so surprising that some in Chirping they wonder if the tweet was a very calculated decision by Levi. The idea here is that with the massive DC upheaval we know is coming, Levi may be aware of, or strongly suggest, that the Shazam! the franchise is going to end for him once the new movie comes out, so he’s trying to stall the movie on purpose.

Perhaps because Levi thinks or knows it’s Shazam!, or perhaps because the belief is that the movie itself is just plain bad, the theory here is that Levi is trying to make the movie not work well or create a reason justifiable why the film Be Bad. It goes without saying that it’s all a theory, but there seem to be a number of people who believe it.

At this point, we don’t really know what Zachary Levi’s fate will be with DC, but most of the names that have been in previous DC projects appear to be either out or on indefinite hold. We know that Henry Cavill will no longer be Superman. Gal Gadot’s future as Wonder Woman seems unlikely, and we know we won’t be seeing more of Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam anytime soon, if ever.

This last point may be the most revealing. While Dwayne Johnson had built a potential future between Black Adam and Superman, the character has always been an antagonist to Shazam in the comics and we expected the two to clash at some point. But knowing that Black Adam won’t be in the first phase of any upcoming DC film, it’s possible Zachary Levi’s Shazam is in the same boat.

James Gunn said we’ll hear from DC in January and the month is almost over. We may find out what’s going on with Levi and Shazam very shortly before the sequel hits theaters. Even if Levi is done, that doesn’t mean he’s trying to kill the movie on purpose.
