The creator of the fan-favorite supernatural franchise has been quite busy lately, with new shows streaming or in development. Unfortunately, one of these shows just got bad news, even after receiving a full series order.
Just days after Peacock canceled Plec’s new vampire drama vampire academythe streamer has now canceled the comic adaptation. dead daywith whom I worked DTT co-creator Kevin Williamson, according to The Variety. The platform is said to be looking for more “event series” type comedies and dramas, which means dead day It was dead.
dead day was originally announced just over a year ago and received a direct series order from Peacock. The series was to be an adaptation of Ryan Parrott’s comic of the same name, with Plec and Williamson serving as co-producers and writers. It was supposed to follow a group of characters going through Dead Day, where the dead only return for one night.
While the supernatural series was definitely in the duo’s aisle, the same obviously can’t be said for Peacock. It’s unclear if Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson will pick up the series on other platforms, but this is just the latest to be canceled despite either an order or a full series renewal.

so if dead day it won’t go any further, at least Plec and Williamson have projects going at the moment. Hopefully, another show can reunite the duo, following their success with the vampire diaries. Maybe they could make another trip to Mystic Falls? Plec hopes to return to the DTT Universe at some point, so you never know what might happen.
Fingers crossed that Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson don’t get more bad news with their future projects because fans have already had enough heartbreak. at least there is always the vampire diarieswhich can be streamed in its entirety if you have an HBO Max subscription.
