How Shazam 2, Flash, Blue Beetle and Aquaman 2 fit into the big plans of the DC Universe, according to James Gunn

The DC Extended Universe has had a wild ride since the disappointing release of Justice LeagueThe theatrical cut of . After this film, the shared universe moved away from serialized storytelling and instead allowed director-driven projects to develop without any real connection to the larger timeline. But all that is about to change, as James Gunn and Peter Safran have been named co-CEO of the universe and makes sweeping changes to all things DC. They recently revealed your future projects with Gunn explaining how he likes previously shot projects Shazam 2, the flash, blue beetleAnd aquaman 2 they fit into the main projects of the DC Universe.

While viewers were delighted that the DC Universe it would finally be cohesive under this new management, it came with disappointments as we learn it Henry Cavill was absent like Superman and Patty Jenkins wonder woman 3 it was demolished . But during James Gunn and Peter Safran’s recent press briefing on their plans for DC, the Guardians of the Galaxy The director explained how the projects already shot will fit his vision for the future. as he said,

So how can we bring these things together and make sense of them and unify them, and have a real universe, a real world? And I think we’ve been lucky with the next four movies, frankly, because we have Shazam leading into the Flash, which resets everything. What happens next in Blue Beetle, which is totally disconnected, can be totally part of the DCU. Enter Aquaman, which leads to Superman, our first big project. But the one thing we can promise is that everything from Superman onward, or actually you’ll see in a second from our first draft, will be canon and connected. We use actors from the past. We are not using other players from the past, but now everything will be connected and cohesive.

Well that’s a relief. While the DCU obviously makes a ton of changes, it seems like every movie in the box (other than the one released bad girl movie) will fit right in with the franchise’s future plans. These projects are therefore safe and sound, despite the concern of fans awaiting the official announcement of Gunn and Safran.

During James Gunn’s comments on the future of the DCU, he mentions the connective tissue that various future projects should have. For example, it appears that the events of Shazam! fury of the gods will lead directly to the Andy Muschietti film the flash. This blockbuster is set to reset to the franchise’s official timeline, which Gunn alludes to during his remarks. Let’s just hope Ezra Miller doesn’t interfere. more controversy because it seems that this project is very important for the upcoming DC movie slate.

Next on this list is blue beetleWho it was originally getting an HBO Max release but now he’s going to the cinema. It appears that this project is quite self-contained, so it could easily be integrated into the new DCU timeline. After that aquaman and the lost kingdom it will apparently have a connection to development Superman movie. Pretty exciting stuff, right?

After a few months of waiting, it’s exciting that the first slate of upcoming DC movies has finally been revealed. The chapter of the film will be titled Gods and Monsters and should begin Superman: Legacy, which James Gunn writes himself. There are a number of upcoming TV projects including lanterns (about Green Lanterns John Stewart and Hal Jordan), Waller (with another appearance by Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller), and lost paradise. As for movies, we have a Batman movie called The brave and the brave which focuses on Bruce Wayne’s son Damian Wayne who is one of the versions of Robin in the comics. And those aren’t all James Gunn and Peter Safarn’s plans, either.

The next DC movie to hit theaters is Shazam! fury of the gods on March 17. Although Zachary Levi has entered the hot water lately. In the meantime, check out the Movie release dates 2023 to plan your next movie experience.
