While Not everyone likes the early versions of Super Bowl ads. live days and weeks before the big game, it definitely helps when there are those shortcut promos and teasers. definitely worth a visit . The same goes for the new Pepsi ad, which features the ever-funny and astute Ben Stiller and Steve Martin trading insults as a way to promote the brand’s Pepsi Zero Sugar soda. And there’s hardly extra sweetness between the pair’s hilarious banter, in which Steve Martin shouts the Break EP as a “nepo baby,” among other observations.
With just under two weeks until Super Bowl LVII, which will pit the Kansas City Chiefs against the Philadelphia Eagles, Pepsi has released two sneak peeks of its high-profile commercials, which are delightfully understated and focus on the comedic strengths of Ben Stiller and Steve Martin. Look!
Steve Martin has made a comeback in pop culture in recent years, thanks in part to the Hulu mystery comedy boffo. Only homicides in the building (which is currently filming the third season with some important guest stars ), and partly also to his masterful collaboration with co-star Martin Short. The duo toured the country with a number two that relies heavily on roasts and picks, and nothing seems too sacred. Which is probably obvious given the “nepo baby” comment, reflecting the fact that Ben Stiller has some entertainment icons: the late, great Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, like her parents.
In recent months, there has been more attention on the idea of nepo babies, or famous children of famous parents, and on the debate about the injustice of these practices and whether genuine talent is or should be a factor. Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber had a strong opinion in it, and the daughter of Stephen Baldwin Hailey Bieber has made the phrase a fashion choice While Tom Hanks seems to agree with this. . And this is just the tip of the iceberg.
But the Super Bowl isn’t about the nepo kids, even though the NFL is just as awesome as Hollywood. It’s all in the ads! And make fun of Ben Stiller! Well, no, that’s not entirely true either, but Pepsi has another look at Stiller and the increasingly witty “best actor” Steve Martin.
Considering how much money companies spend on Super Bowl slots each year, there’s something very refreshing about seeing two funny people standing in a stripped-down, just plain fun setting. Which probably means that anything streamed during the game is going to be one big expensive CGI shit show. But interesting bonus points if it’s Ben Stiller literally trying to get in or out of a giant wet paper bag.
To catch this commercial and many other super expensive promos, be sure to watch Super Bowl LVII, which airs on Fox Sunday, February 12 starting at 6:30pm ET. and meet in our 2023 TV premiere schedule to see all upcoming programs that may have commercial breaks with the same ads.
