Paco Rabanne, famous Spanish fashion designer and perfumer, has died at the age of 88. He died this Friday morning in Portsall, a town in the town of Ploudalmézeau (Finistere) according to information from the Telegram confirmed by the house of Paco Rabanne to BFMTV.
“He was one of the most visionary fashion figures of the 20th century, (and) his legacy will remain a constant source of inspiration,” read a statement from the brand posted on social media.
A spokesman for the Catalan group Puig, owner of the brand that bears his name, told AFP that the fashion designer lived in this Brittany town.
Born on February 18, 1934 in Spain, Francisco Rabaneda y Cuervo (his real name) studied architecture in the 1950s at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris. He develops his appetite for fashion in parallel. The next decade saw him making accessories for major luxury houses, before beginning to design his own clothing in the mid-1960s.
