While Pedro Pascal, the star of the HBO event series, was the guest of honor, snl developed a sketch with the actor where he plays Mario in a post-apocalyptic universe parodying that of The last of us.
The video, a fake trailer that looks like the famous live action movie Super Mario Bros.. (1993), achieved immense success on social media. Within 24 hours, the video had been viewed nearly 6 million times on Twitter.
A ratings success
The last of us, which began airing in mid-January, has steadily growing audiences. Since its release, the first three episodes have already been watched by 15 million viewers.
