Dan Reed, director of leaving neverlanda shocking documentary accusing Michael Jackson of pedophilia, criticized the upcoming biopic about the “King of Pop” in a column published Sunday in the British newspaper The Guardian.
In this text, the director denounces the decision to make a film about the music icon. “[Pourquoi] Is no one calling for the cancellation of this film that will glorify a man who raped children?” he writes.
“It seems that the press, his fans and a significant part of the people who grew up loving Michael Jackson are willing to put aside their unhealthy relationships with children to simply enjoy his music,” he adds.
“Society Will Forgive Him”
In his gallery, the director speaks directly with the creative team of the future film: director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day), screenwriter John Logan (fallen from heaven) and producer Graham King (Bohemian Rhapsody) – and asks if they will address the abuse of which Michael Jackson has been accused.
“How will you portray the moment when Michael Jackson, in his thirties, will take a child by the hand and lead him into his bedroom? How will you portray what happens next?” writes Dan Reed.
According to the director, hiding “Michael Jackson’s attraction to young children” sends a very clear message to survivors of child abuse: “If a pedophile is wealthy and loved by all, society will forgive him.”
