During the 2000s, the proud family It has become one of the most popular shows on the Disney Channel. One of the few animated sitcoms to put African-American characters front and center, the series has become a favorite with children and adults alike. So it was quite surprising when the show stopped airing after a few years. Fortunately, it has since returned in the form of a revival, stronger and prouder (which can be transmitted with a Disney+ subscription ). But before this show got a green light from House of Mouse, the makers released a live-action version of the beloved show, and it looks crazy.
let’s tell the truth, the proud familyThe format definitely lines up with the motif typically associated with live-action, multi-camera (or single-camera) comedies. So it wasn’t too surprising when I spoke to producers Ralph Farquhar and Bruce W. Smith, and they said they had ideas for such a production. However, the two honestly baffled me when they revealed a specific idea. Farquhar explained that they weren’t just looking to make a simple sitcom, they also wanted to inject animation aspects into it:
Well, to be completely honest, when we first met [the air], we say to ourselves: ‘Why are we leaving?’ So Bruce and I pitched every year from 2005 until we were cast. [for Louder and Prouder], and we released live action, we released live action and animation, we released a lot of stuff. So Proud Family could, I think, obviously work as a live show. But one thing that I’ve personally always been in love with was the idea of having live-action characters that crash and stretch, you know?
I certainly didn’t expect to hear such sentiments from Ralph Farquhar who has produced and written for many major shows such as happy days, MoeshaAND real Hollywood husbands. Given your experience, I would have thought you would have thought of a show that is a little more traditional and in step with the times. the proud family the tradition of welcoming great guest stars . But then again, the fact that he did it all might be one of the main reasons he wanted to try something a little less conventional. It might be a crazy idea, but it’s also tempting. The idea of an actor playing Oscar Proud on a live stage and still being squashed and stretched like his cartoon counterpart is fun.
Of course, for the project to come to fruition, some practical factors must be taken into consideration. Bruce W. Smith added that it would be difficult to find actors with the various attributes of some of the characters. Some of his features really lend themselves to animation, and there’s one actor in particular that Smith used to illustrate this important point:
You can’t have Zoey if you don’t have those long skinny legs, you know? Where do you go to choose this person? In which country will you choose this person? [Laughs] But I agree, there’s a wild hybrid that could be very interesting.
If anyone could figure out the logistics, it would probably be these two. They turned out to be incredibly cerebral, as evidenced by the fact that they took it big BTS ratings for stronger and prouder considered before the second season. I sincerely hope we get to see some live action proud family production one day. But if we don’t, I’ll be happy, since the programs you’ve already delivered are easily next to the great black comedies of the last decades just like I am now.
The second season of The Proud Family: Stronger and Prouder now stream with others titles on Disney+ in February . You can also check out the Gossipify ones TV show 2023 for more information on this year’s premiere shows and comebacks.
