WandaVision director Matt Shakman explains why Helming chose the MCU’s Fantastic Four reboot over Star Trek 4

Though Matt Shakman started his career in the entertainment industry as a child, he has acted in shows like just the ten of us, the facts of life and the original night courtyard, is now best known as a director, especially in television. However, following his stint as the helm of WandaVision, the first of Disney+’s original Marvel shows, Shakman was tapped to direct. star travel 4, the long-awaited Kelvin Timeline sequel to the franchise. Eventually, however, Shakman walked away. star travel 4 returns to take on the Marvel Cinematic Universe Fantastic Four reboot, and now explained why he chose one over the other as his second film, after 2014 bank cut.

Matt Shakman tackled star travel 4 in July 2021, but by the end of August 2022 he had his sights set on Fantastic Fourthe development of which was officially announced at Comic-Con 2019 in San Diego. Soon after, Shakman left star travel 4 official, and as the director explained to the envelope why he chose Marvel’s first family over the crew of the USS Enterprise returns to having so much fun working within the MCU the first time around:

I had a great time working on “Star Trek” for a little over a year, working closely with JJ Abrams and everyone at Paramount, and I love that franchise, and I love the cast that JJ has created, and it would have been an incredible pleasure. to work with them in the fourth installment there. But movies have different journeys and pulses, and schedules are a bit fickle, so when the Fantastic Four opportunity arose, it was just too hard to let go and go back to Marvel, where I worked. in ‘WandaVision’ in, with these people who are wonderful collaborators.

So a combination of profiting from his experience on WandaVision and those projects proceeding at different pace led Matt Shakman to decide Fantastic Four it was the best option for him. Fantastic Four has certainly progressed more than star travel 4and in a shorter period of time as the latter has been stuck in development hell since 2016. Right now, star travel 4 is undated having previously been set to December 2023, while Fantastic Four is slated for release in February 2025, with Shakman sharing that production will begin in early 2024.

despite the choice Fantastic Four ON star travel 4Matt Shakman still deeply admires the star Trek franchise, noting the similarities between this corner of the sci-fi genre and the superhero team as follows:

It’s really family there and being able to go back and deal with something that I really love and are very similar in some ways – both launched in the 60’s at the same time they are both optimistic and see stars and technology can fix everything , and it’s also about family: the family you have, the family you create. So they’re aligned in so many ways and they speak to my heart and also, so I’m excited to be working on “Fantastic Four.”

There has been no official word on how things stand star travel 4 following the departure of Matt Shakman. That said, the star Trek the franchise as a whole is thriving on shows these days Discovery, picardy, strange new worlds, lower decks AND prodigy that Paramount+ subscribers can view. As for Fantastic FourNo plot or casting details have been announced yet, though it has been clarified that the film, written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, will not tell the origin story of Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Thing and The Human. . Torch.

We at 24 News Bulletin will continue to release updates on how Fantastic Four AND star travel 4 they’re coming, although at this point it’s safe to say the former will come before the latter. If you want to see the previous Fantastic Four movies, can easily be streamed with a Disney+ subscription.
