Alexandra Daddario shares her thoughts on Intimacy Coordinators and how she thinks the industry has changed since its inception in Percy Jackson.

Alexandra Daddario has been a familiar face in movies since her breakout performance in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Since then she has starred in projects such as Baywatch, true detective, AND the white lotus, the latter earned him an Emmy nomination. The actress has seen a lot of changes in Hollywood over the past 13 years and now the St Andrew’s star shares his thoughts on the introduction of on-set intimacy coordinators, as well as other changes to productions.

Daddario recently opened up about his career and his success in the entertainment industry for over a decade. The actress specifically mentions how different on-set etiquette is from her Hollywood debut, specifically mentioning the role of intimacy coordinators when working on more sensitive scenes during filming. Daddario offered her take on the matter, telling Fashionable:

While some people might say it went from zero to 60 very quickly, I think it took so long for these things to have happened. And even though some people think it’s kind of an over-correction, I think it’s much better than doing nothing. I like having intimacy coordinators and people who care about that kind of thing. And I like seeing more women in front of and behind the camera.

Since “MeToo” and other women-focused movements in the industry, there has been an increased awareness of the importance of having a diverse crew on film sets. In particular, there has been a push for more women to be offered roles behind the camera and, therefore, more attention to female-led stories. This is a major departure from what Daddario first experienced when he began acting in films such as They Climbing detailed star:

Look, this shouldn’t be a complicated subject, but when I started, I didn’t meet any female directors. They were all the men you met.

Alexandra Daddario herself has worked with more female directors in the second half of her career, particularly in episodes of The bride experience AND witches of mayfair, like in the movie 1 night in San Diego. Having a female perspective behind the camera can change the interpretation of the script, and it’s nice to know that Daddario takes this into account when selecting his projects.

Lately, the actress reminisces about the beginnings of her career as she enters a new phase of projects on her plate. She was candid about the negative effects of her participation in the Baywatch the film had in roles that were offered to her and her career stalled before she was cast the white lotus. Daddario has thankfully come out of depression and is now starring witches of Mayfair, a series based on the work of Anne Rice. This isn’t the first time Daddario has felt pressure from book fans to get the film adaptation right, and I’m sure the actress will pull through this time.
