It’s official: We are entering a new era with upcoming DC movies and upcoming DC TV shows. Last week, DC Studios directors James Gunn and Peter Safran unveiled a list of 10 projects that make up the launch of chapter one of the DC Universe franchise, titled Gods and Monsters. Still, there’s a segment of the DC fanbase that clings to the hope that Zack Snyder can someday conclude his saga with these superhero characters. Last month, a new fan campaign began selling the Snyderverse to Netflix in some way, and Gunn has now given two reasons why the hashtag #SellTheSnyderVerseToNetflix is ”the craziest.”
James Gunn shared his thoughts on this after a fan commented with the hashtag on his tweet that it simply contained a photo of the Swamp Thing getting a new movie that James Mangold may be directing. Gunn replied to the Zack Snyder follower with this:
I have to say this has to be the craziest hashtag since 1) Netflix hasn’t expressed such an interest (although we’ve discussed other things) and 2) Zack hasn’t expressed any interest and seems happy to oblige. what do you do (and, yes, we talked too).
DC and Netflix are already in a relationship thanks to the latter streaming service hosting The Sandman AND Greedy – gluttonous – gluttonous, two television adaptations of comic book series that were released through DC’s now-defunct Vertigo line. And while James Gunn has revealed that there are ongoing talks between the two sides, it’s not just Netflix that hasn’t shown any interest in taking on the Snyderverse, and Zack Snyder himself is no more. Remember, the man already has enough on his plate to offer Netflix subscribers for years to come, including his sci-fi epic. rogue moonIt has a huge cast.
After James Gunn tweeted his take on #SellTheSnyderVerseToNetflix, another fan was curious what he and Zack Snyder were talking about, the director said in a new post. peek:
He reached out to me to express his support for my choices. He’s a good guy. Again, he seems very happy with the huge world-building that he is doing.
So here it is: It’s not just Zack Snyder who’s already satisfied with his work on both parts. rogue moon and the army of the dead franchise, he seems interested in what James Gunn and Peter Safran have come up with at DC. That’s not to say Snyder can’t someday direct another DC movie, but in between. sentinels, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and his court Justice League, the man has played enough in this proverbial sandbox. I’m so sorry to the Snyderverse fans who were hoping Snyder could continue to expand his corner of the DC Multiverse on Netflix, but that’s just not in the cards.
