A few months ago, D’Errico made headlines after wearing a starry bikini for the 4th of July. Though her detractors called her “too old” to wear this dress, she wasn’t afraid to face trolling. Plus, she’s not the only Hollywood figure struggling with her age. Paulina Porizkova too was ashamed of wearing a bikini in her fifties and last year she wrote about the age she experienced while wearing bathing suits. The model got a similar post on Instagram:

A 57-year-old woman is “too old” to pose in a bikini, no matter what she looks like. Because “old” is “ugly”. I get comments like these every time I post a picture of my body. It’s the shame of age that makes me grind my teeth.

Trolling doesn’t just happen with bikini-clad posts shared by famous women. A host of celebs have mentioned dealing with trolls in the past, including Florence Pugh, who gave the trolls a boost after she “released her nipple” in a see-through Valentino dress. Company Baywatch Alumni Denise Richards has been trolled after she and her husband were killed in a terrifying car crash in recent weeks. It can be scary, and many celebrities have even taken a break or quit social media over incidents like these.

The good news for Donna D’Ericco is that she’s had fan support ever since she’s been dealing with a bit of online trolling. She noted that she wasn’t “near perfect” at the time, but she felt “pretty good” about her skin, fitness and body, regardless of her age. And the Baywatch The star continued to wear whatever she wanted on social media, even filling up Fifty Shades of Gray in a recent article.

And, as she noted in the post, the trolling she has been involved in has actually given her more control over her career and taken her in a new direction, a feeling that her peers Baywatch OF alumnus and content creator Carmen Electra also referenced. So in this case, being trolled actually seems to have had a positive outcome for D’Errico, which is one of the reasons why he apparently decided to go back to his original bikini job.
