Andor’s manager talks about not being a Star Wars fan and how it helped him on the Disney+ show

The next phase of Star Wars was marked by a series of ups and downs. Things got off to an incredible start when JJ Abrams revived the film franchise Star Wars: The Force Awakens – which comes after Return of the Jedi for those who wish to see all of the Star Wars movies in order . So Rian Johnson threw a metaphorical hand grenade at the fandom with his divider Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and the saga has found its way ever since. Star Wars has been a big hit lately with TV shows, available to anyone with a a Disney+ subscription . show how the Mandalorian AND Andor have opened up new corners of the Star Wars universe ea Andor The director thinks he knows why these shows hit the mark with passionate audiences.

Benjamin Caron directed some key episodes of Andorincluding the gripping season finale (which he told us should have included the first atomic bomb in Star Wars history ). Star Wars fans have celebrated Andor for coming closest to capturing the tone and intent of Star Wars: A New Hope and George Lucas’ work on the original trilogy. Which is ironic because Caron said the ReelBlend Podcast who took the job despite not being the biggest Star Wars fan on the planet. But in his mind, it helped him in his approach to the subject. He told us:

I do it, personally, because it’s my way of approaching this topic. The example I could give is that there’s a world where you walk into a Star Wars setting and you go “Wow, look at those creatures! Or, ‘Wow, look at that building!’ Or, ‘Wow, look at that spaceship!’ I was like, ‘Meh’ [laughs] No, that’s not entirely true, some of the creatures were awesome, but there’s not some kind of sub-storm where I’m going to go out and fetishize those creatures. They are just a part of the beautiful landscape that exists. If we were in another place, if we were in a western, it’s just people living apart. And so I guess… in my opinion, that was part of the world, they exist, if you see them, you see them, if you don’t see them, you don’t see them. But my guiding principle is that I will focus on the characters and follow them like an arrow for as long as possible.

What we know about Andor season 2

Geneviève O'Reilly as Mon Mothma in Andor

Andor Season 2 is on its way and we already know big things about it.

This explains very well why Andor feels like by far the liveliest and most organic presentation in the galaxy. Benjamin Caron treated the world, and all its anomalies, as standard fodder that he would film regardless of the genre in question. This is one of the main reasons why we say that even those who are notStar Wars Fan should give Andor An attempt because you don’t need to be immersed in the legacy of Star Wars history to appreciate what’s happening in the series.

There are great sub-plots Andor which speak to the division of class warfare and the push of the oppressed against the rich. There is also a notable arc set in a prison which includes some of Andy Serkis’ best work , and could really exist in any HBO Max series that has nothing to do with Star Wars. It’s great that these subplots exist in a Star Wars story. But Star Wars doesn’t have to be gripping, and that’s part of the appeal.

Caron appeared on ReelBlend to promote her new powerful drama Crook, which will hit theaters for a limited time before arriving on AppleTV+. I can’t recommend the movie highly enough, but I also think you should read it cold, so don’t watch the trailer or read anything about it. This is definitely one of the best news 2023 films available to the public Right now.
