The first trailer of x fast it’s finally here, and with it came some welcome insight into Jason Momoa’s villainous character Dante. It was revealed in the preview that Dante was present at the events of fast five, as he had some kind of relationship with the main antagonist of this film, Hernán Reyes de Joaquim de Almeida. Breaking the first x fast trailer with Full MovieLouis Leterrier shared it fast five it’s her favourite Fast & Furious movie, which made him think ‘What if, what if, what if?’ when he started working on the latter work. From there, Leterrier explained that there was a “price for justice” and a “price for Dom’s life choices, to remove this darkness from the world,” resulting in a “ripple effect.” He continued:
We know this is the price Dom and his family will pay. And Fast Five, to me, represented that the most. Fast Five was last [Fast] film that really dealt with human interests: the oppression of the poor. Reyes oppressed the favelas and plundered them. Dom and the family ask Robin Hood for the money and give it back. But when you think they’re doing the right thing, there’s always someone who thinks you’re doing the wrong thing. So what we tried to do was safely steal Rashomon the Fast Five, which is my all time favorite. We were like, ‘How about filming it through the eyes of the bad guys? Where are the villains in this vision, Dom and Brian, and are they stealing this family’s safe?
Louis Leterrier later said it “seemed like a very strong thematic direction to start the film”, stating so x fast will start by examining the fast five highlight, but this time look at it from Dante’s point of view. like him x fast showed the trailer, Dante was on hand to see Dominic Toretto and his team enter the safe containing Hernán Reyes’ money, and he was the one driving the car carrying Reyes when the drug lord chased after the protagonists to collect the their booty. The car chase ended when Dante, Reyes and the other occupants of the car were thrown off that bridge, and while Dante made it out alive, Reyes was executed shortly after by Dwayne’s Luke Hobbs Johnson in retaliation for killing his colleagues officers. .
When asked about Dante’s bond with Hernán Reyes, Louis Leterrier confirmed that they were “family”, specifying that the former is the son of the latter. As for what Jason Momoa brings to the table x fastLeterrier first summed it up as “chaos,” then elaborated:
Bring what this franchise needs. He puts Dom on the back foot. Dom stands for control and responsiveness. It’s easy to fight back and fight against someone who’s cold and calculating and everything in between. But when someone’s crazy and they’re nihilistic and they don’t care and they’re also totally obsessed with Dom… they’re obsessed with him. He’s like a crazy fan. They are the most dangerous enemies.
Dante clearly has an ax to sharpen on Dominic Toretto and will do anything to get his revenge, including kidnapping his son, Brian Marcos, who is now played by Leo Abelo Perry. But Dante is not the only villain of x fast, as Charlize Theron’s Cipher is also back in the game. Whether Dante and Cipher are in any way allies or will take the lead roles in the film separately remains to be seen.
