Rihanna has a lot to do right now. Not only is the singer headlining this Sunday’s Super Bowl LVII in the space of a year, she’s also become a first-time mom and is among the Oscar nominations 2023 for best original song for great movie Black Panther: Wakanda Foreveris “Come and get me”. Headlining the aforementioned halftime show is a great honor, but it also comes with a lot of pressure. However, the singer explained that her new role as mother influenced her decision to accept the concert.
When Rihanna spoke about her massive Super Bowl performance, she said entertainment tonight how motherhood influenced his decision to officiate the deciding football game of the year. She also revealed that she initially wondered if she was right for the job. As she shared she:
When I got the first call to do it again this year, I said, ‘Are you sure?’ For example, three months after giving birth, I don’t know if I should be making any important decisions right now.
One of the crudest badges of honor has to be to grow a human inside them and give birth. Rihanna and A$AP partner Rocky welcomed their baby boy in May amid all the other milestones the singer has in store for her, like owning the company behind cosmetics brand Fenty Beauty and lingerie brand Savage X Fenty. Also, you’ve been working on new music lately. Also speaking about her decision to perform at the Super Bowl, the star said that her status as a mother encouraged her:
When you become a mom, something happens where you feel like you can take on the world, you can do anything. The Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world. So as scary as that sounds, since I haven’t been on stage in seven years, there’s something exciting about the challenge. And it’s important for me to do it this year. It’s important to the play, it’s important for my son to see it.

It must not have been an easy decision for the singer to take on the responsibility of running the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show shortly after having a child, but she felt she could “do anything” after becoming a mother. On the contrary, it seems that she was totally ready for another challenge, especially one that her son can remember and be proud of.
It’s been seven years since Rihanna took the stage, but over the course of her career, Rihanna has certainly given us many iconic performances. This experience will continue in her thirteen-minute set which the singer describes as a “celebration” of her catalog spanning 17 years. Speaking of limiting what she would sing, Rihanna admitted that “the hardest part” was deciding the set list herself, since she has a lot of great songs that she could play. It’s an embarrassment of riches and should make for a really entertaining show.
