It is a sequence that has not gone unnoticed. Earlier this week, on a visit to Northern Ireland as part of his thank you tour of the UK nations, King Charles III let his frustrations out by signing a guest book.
The actor and comedian Alain Chabat did not miss the opportunity to make fun of the new British sovereign, parodying the scene.
“So do I have to put ‘noon’?”
When he was about to sign a paper, the new sovereign made a mistake on today’s date. “I just have to put… Is it September 12?” he asks one of the councilors around him. “The 13th, sir,” replies one of them.
In the same way, Alain Chabat imitates a disoriented king, who at first struggles to find a chair to sit on. “So, do I have to put ‘noon’?” he asks then.
“Twenty-three hours, sir,” replies his assistant, played by Jamel Debbouze.
“I have all the stained fingers”
As happened to Carlos III, Alain Chabat’s pen begins to leak. The comedian thus parodies the king, who then began to curse his fate. “I hate him, he’s leaking everywhere. Now my fingers are all stained,” he mimics, before his assistant wipes her hands clean.
“On my own I reviewed my lacets in the morning, I knew that this was all a journée de merde”, in reference to the three strict demands of Charles III who notably demanded that their lacets, like they are pajamas, soient repassés au fer tous the days.
