The single person deepens the drama as the weeks of season 27 and Zach Shallcross’s search for love progress. More than fifteen women they were canceled at this stage as he continues to figure out who he can see a future with and who should be sent home without a rose. While die-hard fans will surely tune in on Monday nights to watch his quest for the happy ending, the bachelor himself shared what makes him cringe and how he avoids dropping spoilers.
Zach Shallcross spoke to Gossipify during the SCAD TV Festival event in Atlanta, GA which also featured an exclusive first look at an episode of The single person and delivered a live recording of the Click the bait with Bachelor Nation hosted by Joe “Grocery Story Joe” Lovable and with his company bachelor in heaven ex (now wife) Serena Pitt . With several episodes of Season 27 already airing and many missing, I asked Shallcross if she had a problem not accidentally dropping spoilers in interviews, and she shared:
Constantly! If they see me, if they ask me a question, I always look back to find the producer watching me to make sure I’m not wrong or say nothing. It’s very difficult because I don’t know what I can and can’t say per se, because you’re having this crazy experience… and you want to share it, but I can’t. So I have to be sneaky or secretive, and it’s hard, but it will be worth it. I think the surprise is fun.
Like a reality show The single person it obviously doesn’t follow a set storyline, so Zach Shallcross knows exactly what’s going on in each episode and how much he can (or can’t) reveal publicly right now. The season 27 star has made it clear that he wants to share the incident with fans, but for now, he has to do his best to keep it a secret and surprise viewers at home.
He also shared that he doesn’t go into every Monday night episode completely blind to what’s to come. When asked if he had any idea what was cut in the episodes before they aired, he explained:
I have a little notice. I don’t fully know for the entire season, but before each episode I get less than a week’s notice. It’s always good, because I don’t like people watching. I like to watch alone, like in a dark room. I don’t like looking at myself, so I just do it. And it’s good. It’s so much easier when Mondays roll around and the memes start rolling in. I’m like, ‘I saw this coming.’ [laughs]
There are plenty of things for Bachelor Nation fans to count on, including memes and image edits of the ups and downs of finding love during a particular season. Indeed, viewers on Twitter wasted no time comparing Zach Shallcross’ individual museum quote to an iconic Ross/Rachel episode from Friends.
In light of The Bachelor’s revelation that he prefers to watch season 27 alone and doesn’t like to watch himself, I had to ask him if there were any points he’d like to hush up or look away, and he immediately responded:
Oh my God, always! I saw myself dancing in episode 2, for example. In my head, I thought it was much better. It’s not good, but I thought it was a little better. And now I withdraw like half of the things I say. I’m not even joking with you. Half the time I see it, I just have to look [away]. “I can’t believe I said that”… And it’s also weird to see you romantically, with everyone looking romantically at you and your family and your sisters. It’s all about it and you’re like, ‘Oh my God, I’m so embarrassed right now.
There are a few things that filming in romantic situations can bring to light for the person in front of the camera; in Zach Shallcross’s case, that includes what kind of dancer he really is. Not only do you experience what happened in a different way by watching, but you realize that everyone, including your family, can watch as well.
Which he spoke about earlier what was it like filming all night and his experience in constantly followed by a film crew . At SCAD TVfest, he questioned whether or not he might forget during filming that his family would someday watch:
Oddly yes. There comes a certain time, and it’s not like a specific moment that I remember, but you get used to it. Cameramen are no longer cameramen. I’m Mark, I’m Rob, I’m your friends that you know. It’s your new normal these days, where you forget about it and forget it’s a TV show, which is honestly probably weird to hear from the outside. But it’s your reality. You don’t have a phone, you don’t have this and that. That’s just life back then. So it’s weird, and then you look at it again and you’re like, ‘Oh shit, that’s true.’ They were filming me. I’m an idiot.’
Zach Shallcross, as well as the women vying for his heart, are cut off from the outside world (at least when it comes to their phones) from life before and after. The single person, and the format meant he could get used to always having people with cameras. Seeing it again is just a different experience! The bachelor clarified that while she’s embarrassing herself these days, forgetting that she was for a TV show has allowed her to really try and find a partner. He said:
This is [immersiveness] help with the last wish you hope everyone wants. What I want is that mate and if he’s not engaging, I’m like, “Okay, we’re doing a TV show.” It’s not like a real couple can emerge from this, when it seems so engaging. It’s like in real life where you can allow yourself to express yourself and not treat it like, “Oh my god, people are going to stare at you.” But then you see it and shudder. It’s part of the deal. It’s part of the deal.
some discomfort (like elimination night 1 ) has to perform on any season of any show on Bachelor Nation with the cameras almost always on, and no one can be portrayed in the most flattering light 100% of the time. Zach Shallcross gets it the solid advice of ex The single person directed by Sean Lowe , and the season is likely to get more dramatic as more episodes air. For Shallcross, it was quite a dive to help him find a mate.
It remains only to see if he really finds this partner! Whether fans watch live on ABC or stream with a Hulu subscription the search for love is still in the early stages of season 27. We can only hope that no one is. there “for the wrong reasons” AS The single person to continue! New episodes of the hit show starring Zach Shallcross air Mondays at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
