Among the collector’s editions of magazines and other Barbies with the effigy of Queen Elizabeth, whose prices have skyrocketed since the sovereign’s death, there are now paper bracelets on eBay.
As several British media pointed out this Saturday, some of these bracelets are now sold for 350 pounds. These are the bracelets given to those who queued, often for many hours, to approach the Queen’s coffin, which was on display in Westminster Hall until Monday morning. However, they can only become collector’s items, and in no way serve to save time in the queue.
These colored and time-stamped bracelets are effectively personal and non-transferable. “This is a record of when you joined the queue,” says the government site,
The use of these bracelets allows those who are in the queue to leave them to go for a drink at one of the pubs that have remained open along the route, or to go to the toilets, installed for this purpose.
More than 24 hours of queue
The Queen’s coffin has been on public display since Wednesday at Westminster Hall. Several hundred thousand people are expected until Monday morning to pay their respects to the queen, who passed away on Thursday, September 8, at the age of 96. Former footballer David Beckham thus queued for 12 hours to also come to meditate in front of the queen’s coffin.
Access time to Westminster Hall is estimated this Saturday morning at more than 24 hours.
