David Beckham, Victoria Beckham and the eldest of her four children paid tribute to the Queen on Instagram on Monday at her funeral. The 47-year-old former footballer praised the memory of “a unique, loving and inspiring head of state”:
“Thousands of people from all walks of life have come together to show their gratitude to our beloved Queen,” he said, captioning a photo of the coffin being carried to Westminster Abbey. “In addition to the incredible ceremony and respect for tradition, we saw a family mourn a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with dignity and devotion.”

More than 12 hours of waiting for David Beckham
David Beckham had already expressed his emotion last week, when he joined the thousands of people who queued for miles to pray before the queen’s coffin in Westminster Hall. After waiting more than 12 hours, they appeared in front of the coffin, red-eyed and briefly confiding in reporters as they left:
“It’s really very difficult to describe this moment,” he said. “She will continue with the Royal Family, but I think Her Majesty was a special person, and she will be missed here in the UK and also around the world.”
