Spoilers ahead for the 200th episode of The blacklistCalled “The Hyena”.
The blacklist Perhaps ending with the current tenth season but not before reaching an important milestone with its diabolical episode 200 March 19th. In “The Hyena,” Red (James Spader) quickly revealed the immediate reason Vesco (Stacy Keach) got out of jail: a scavenger hunt that required both of their expertise to be the first to win the prize. They had to try and beat the literally deadly competition, with the FBI task force thrown into the mix. It was a fun way to celebrate 200 episodes (although that cliffhanger might not be fun for Red in the long run), but he didn’t answer an important unanswered question. Speaking with Gossipify, Stacy Keach shed some light.
During Stacy Keach’s other appearances on The blacklist, the show determined that Vesco stole a large sum of money from Reddington, and it hadn’t been fixed by the end of his season 9 appearance. Vesco was too busy being poisoned and then released for the problem to arise. episode 199, and Red didn’t mention it during his fling in issue 200. In fact, the episode ended with Red telling Cooper (Harry Lennix) that cheating was a thing of the past for him and the ex mentor of him. But is it really so?
When I spoke with Stacy Keach about his return in season 10, he discussed the issue of Vesco and Red’s status quo about stolen money after where they left off in season 9:
Well, I don’t know! Really, I do not know. For my part, I am eager to personally know the answer to this question. Because in the beginning, when I first went to get the second installment of Vesco’s character, he actually stole a lot of money from Reddington, and I thought that when they wanted me back, why they wanted me it was to get me out of jail and get the money he took from her. But this is not the case. I asked James, I said, ‘What happened to the money I stole from you?’ [He said], ‘I do not know. It wasn’t important. And she just threw it away. [laughs] So I guess some of the story was never really covered.
The end of episode 200 left the door wide open for Vesco to return, so The blacklist technically, it’s not out of the question what happened to the money he stole from Red and what Red would do about it. That said, I’d say Stacy Keach says this plot element “was never really addressed” is a sign that The blacklist I won’t be revisiting that particular story until the finale later this year.
Sure, it makes sense that Red has more pressing matters on his mind in season 10, and he seems to be doing just fine without all of Vesco’s stolen money. In this latest run of episodes, former Blacklisters team up against James Spader’s character in an attempt to bring him down, which could present more challenges than ever for the task force. The band has a little more help in season 10 with the arrival of Siya Malik (Anya Banerjee) following the exit Aram and Park at the end of season 9.
The task force is virtually intact now despite last season’s departures. Somehow they reluctantly became involved in Red’s plan in “The Hyena” as they had to deal with his and Vesco’s deadly competition as a higher priority than Red and Vesco. , who, ask Keach, said: share a “certain sign of morality .” How much screen time the two have left together remains to be seen, depending on whether Stacy Keach returns in season 10.
All in all, Episode 200 was a fun hour of TV that ended on an ominous note about Red’s haters. The blacklist go catch a flight to the 100-episode milestone in 2018, unlike the 150 that focused a little more on story with Katarina in 2020 . For now, you can expect new episodes Sundays at 10 p.m. ET onwards bnc and relive the previous episodes of the tenth season with a Peacock Premium Subscription .
