Below are mild spoilers for Superman and Lois’ latest episode, “Forces Uncontrollable,” so read at your own risk.
The third season of superman and laws It’s finally here and even though it’s only two episodes away so far, it’s already been a hectic affair. There’s a lot of superhero action to play but, so far, it’s the character drama that really heats up in the beginning (and devastating fans in the process ). One of the biggest developments on that front, of course, has to be the connection between Chrissy Beppo and Kyle Cushing. It was a surprising turn of events, to say the least, especially since the two haven’t interacted much over the past two seasons. Now Sofia Hasmik, who plays Chrissy, is opening up about her initial reaction to the story.
In the season premiere, Chrissy and Kyle are reunited in bed together the morning after Jonathan and Jordan Kent’s 16th birthday party, where they briefly talked about their personal lives. The connection is made all the more awkward by the fact that Chrissy is at Kyle’s house when his ex-wife, Lana Lang, arrives to deliver signed divorce papers. (However, Lang never sees Beppo.) I had the pleasure of speaking with Sofia Hasmik about her work in superman and laws and, during our conversation, we discuss his beloved character’s latest personal escapade. The actress explained how she reacted and, yes, at first she was as surprised as many fans:
There was a time when I was like, ‘[Gasp] What?’ [Laughs] We had our pre-season meeting and, you know, we had some history, like a map for us. And certainly, that was one of the things that I gasped for most of the meeting, because I was like, ‘How? What? They haven’t even interacted before. It’s so wild.
Admittedly, the two Smallville locals’ paths have rarely crossed at this point, so we totally understand why the star would be shocked at first sight. However, based on other comments he’s made, it seems like it didn’t take him long to shed those initial nerves. He also explained why the two likely became intimate so quickly:
I also have a lot of confidence [EP] Todd [Helbing]and I trust [EP] Brent [Fletcher]. I trust all the writers, and more than anything, I was really excited to see what this was going to be like. and i mean, [the Season 3 premiere] Alone, as if they were having so much fun together, these characters. And I think even in that brief moment, in the kitchen, when they had that little exchange, I think they really saw each other in that little, little dialogue that they had. And it really felt like that pivotal moment where I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, there might be something fun to explore there. But it was definitely a surprise. I think it came as a surprise to almost everyone.
Chrissy Beppo has had an interesting run on The CW’s hit drama series. She initially she was a recurring character, but Sofia Hasmik reached series regular status in season 2 of superman and laws . With that, Chrissy became a bigger part of the narrative, having crossed the line by investigating the shadowy Ally Allston. Of course, this is Chrissy’s first time having an actual love interest. Hasmik is looking forward to embarking on this new story arc and what excites him most is the opportunity to work more with Kyle Cushing actor Erik Valdez:
I’m very, very grateful for this story, and one of the main reasons is that I work with Erik. Our characters… We had a scene in season one. It was with Chrissy and Lois and Kyle, and it was very brief. And after that, we had no interaction. When it came to big group scenes, we would see each other and like to hang out in the green room. And, of course, we saw each other outside of work. Working with him on an acting level has truly been one of the greatest blessings this season. He’s a great guy and he’s so talented. He was a blast. And get this privilege, [in] Especially Season 3 where we really see Chrissy grow, having her as part of it. [is] so much joy
This season’s second episode, “Forces Uncontrollable,” doesn’t delve into this particular story, as Chrissy and Kyle only share one scene, where they discuss a major murder in the city. This storyline will likely become more important as the season progresses, and I’m very curious how others, especially Lana Lang, will react. However, despite the tension that may arise there, I’m sure that in the midst of Superman’s conflict with Bruno Mannheim OR the rise of our new Lex Luthor this romantic subplot should bring some levity and heart to an already entertaining show.
Watch Sofia Hasmik and her co-stars at superman and laws when it airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW as part of the TV show 2023 . You can too watch recent episodes for free on the network’s website and stream previous seasons using a Maximum HBO subscription .
