When viewers fall in love with an onscreen couple, it’s hard not to want that relationship to continue once the cameras stop rolling. We are so caught up in the moment that it is offensive to our hearts to imagine a director screaming “Cut!” and these two people who are separating. Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay proved it at the Emmy Awards by trying Right several fans of lovely moments like Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler, famous decoupled. Grey’s Anatomy Former student Patrick Dempsey also experienced this phenomenon, talking about fans who wished to be married to Ellen Pompeo in real life.
Contrary to RightBensler, however, Meredith Gray and Derek Shepherd, aka MerDer, got married in the ABC medical drama, until McDreamy’s life ended prematurely in season 11. Even now, seven years later. Dempsey left the show through one of Grey’s Anatomy The most shocking deaths , the actor knows why audiences have grown fond of the couple. He said people :
It has always been a very special relationship that Ellen and I have had together even in front of and behind the screen. I think a lot of the show’s success is due to the chemistry, the relationship, and the people wanting to believe in love and things. I know people all over the world who would like us to be together, but she has Christopher. [Ivery] and I have [my wife] jillian [Fink] and they are great people.
Oh, those pesky real-life spouses really get in the way, don’t they? I’m kidding, of course, because I would never wish any harm to the royal relationship between Dempsey and Jillian Fink, who have been married since 1999 and share three children, and Pompeo and Chris Ivery, who married in 2007 and also have a trio of little ones.
While Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni seem to be trolling fans with their close kisses, there’s probably even less hope for more MerDer romance in the future. Dempsey made a surprise return in Grey’s Anatomy in season 17, with McDreamy joining Meredith in her COVID-induced beach hallucinations. But with Meredith joins the land of the living Derek is likely to remain in the large operating room in the sky.
Pompeo, meanwhile, will return when Grey’s Anatomy returns for season 19, albeit in a reduced role, as Meredith will only appear in eight episodes this season. Let’s see what awaits us on October 6:
It looks like it’s been six months since the mess we saw in End of Grey’s Anatomy season 18 . A new class of trainees will welcome us this season and Miranda Bailey is back from retirement, but we will have to wait to see in which capacity she is. I also liked to see Levi Schmitt, formerly known as “Glasses”, Warn residents not to drop anything on a patient. At first glance, there will be trauma, love, connection and more, and I can’t wait.
