Unstableone of the most recent versions of Netflix TV show 2023 , generates its fair share of laughs, thanks in large part to its skilled cast. Rob Lowe stepped down from the role, with others like his son and co-star John Owen Lowe and Sian Clifford also throwing solid punches. Between humorous actors and comic situations, the show puts them inside (like Lowe’s nude scene) , it seems almost certain that some star would have broken character in just a few takes. John Owen and Clifford confirmed that was the case, and as they explained, their co-star Fred Armisen was largely responsible for their mid-production laughs.
In this workplace comedy, Fred Armisen plays Leslie, an eccentric therapist hired by the board of directors of Ellis Dragon’s (Rob Lowe) company to help him deal with the death of his wife. However, things take an unexpected turn when Ellis kidnaps Leslie so that she won’t report her eccentric behavior to her business associates. But as time passes, the two form a friendship and Ellis counsels Leslie about marital problems with his wife. With this, the two housemates become an odd couple, much to Jackson’s chagrin.
Given the circumstances surrounding his character, the Saturday night live alum has a number of very funny moments. So it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that her name came up when I asked John Owen Lowe and Sian Clifford about the times they broke character in the middle of filming. Lowe noted that nearly every scene of him with the comedian was hard to get over, but there’s one moment in particular that stands out the most:
I would say that almost every scene with Fred Armisen was very difficult for me to follow. But more specifically, what comes to mind is that there is a scene where I will not reveal any plot. But when he walks offstage, he casually slips his hand and takes my breakfast bagel that I haven’t eaten yet and walks away. [That] It wasn’t in the script and it doesn’t sound as funny as a staging. But I was treating him so harshly that he wished he could put his hand in front of my face and then shake the plate in front of my mouth in a way that made no sense and was completely contrary to what was happening. In. Our manager came to see me at one point [while] shooting this and I was like, ‘Hey man, I know we’re having fun, but I don’t have a single usable take right now. So you just have to try and keep a straight face.
Should we really be surprised that the host managed to make his co-stars laugh so much? I mean, his comedic feats are pretty much legendary at this point. Sian Clifford has a lot of respect for Fred Armisen, and in her experience, the star has been downright generous. She also recalls not being able to control her laughter as she played with him, and at the same time she recalls a scene not involving Armisen, which made her laugh:
I mean, same thing, there was a scene with Fred again, where we were both, I think, a little dumbfounded, but it was also really funny. And he’s so involved in every scene, and it’s very, very difficult when someone is so present and available, giving it their all and doing something absolutely ridiculous. So it was for me, it was just fun. There is also a cryo freezer scene which was hard to beat for many reasons due to the sound, due to the loud and loud jackets. And also because it was just… [the production designers] created a small space. I didn’t have to huddle around other humans, but yeah, it was a very, very fun day, but I think it was hard for the crew to film.
