The sepia-soaked world of external banks is back, as Netflix released a trailer for the third season of the fan-favorite show during its Tudum event. Among many others netflix show ads, OBX The trailer is particularly exciting because of all the questions we have left at the end of season 2. Now I (along with the fans) can add more questions to this list based on the season 3 trailer.
Develop what already is meet the new season external banks , the trailer shows the Pogues stranded on an island, living in what they called “Pogueland”. We also see the return of many more familiar characters, including Topper, Ward, Rafe, and the return of the Season 2 star. Elizabeth Mitchell as Toxic Limbry . All the characters seem to be fighting for their lives and for treasure, and John B. raises some important questions, including:
What are you willing to do to win? How far will you go to retrieve your treasure?
While these are important thematic questions, we viewers have our questions. Let’s talk about:
Will JJ and Kiara finally meet again?
Scrolling through #OuterBanks on Twitter, it’s clear that fans are incredibly excited and curious about JJ and Kiara’s future. For example, this fan tweeted a series of one-second photos from the trailer, showing the two hugging:

Fans have been shipping both from day one. While JJ, Pope, and John B. sometimes have it all, and some still have a crush on Kiara, it seems like it might be time for JJ to take it to the next level. In the second season, Kiara and Pope were together, but she broke up with him. While that’s a second in the trailer, it comes after two seasons of seeing their electric chemistry, a strong friendship, and years of waiting for them to reunite. Maybe now is the time? We will have to wait and find out.
Obviously the Pogues are stuck, but how are they going to get off the island?
While social media isn’t asking this question yet, it’s my biggest question: how the hell are these guys going to leave this island? With each season, the stakes get higher (and more ridiculous) and by the end of season two we saw our group of heroes stranded on a piece of land in the middle of the ocean.
The trailer shows a large boat moving in the water, which may hint at their rescue, but I don’t really know how anyone will find them. I guess Ward and Rafe might be motivated enough to try and find Sarah, who is their daughter and sister respectively. However, these two proved how terrible they are and I don’t think they would do anything like that unless it was with bad intentions.
It seems clear to me that they will eventually leave the island, as we see sequences in the trailer, such as the moment with Kiara and JJ, for example, which takes place in areas of civilization. So we know they are leaving the island, but I’m very curious to see how they get there.
When will Netflix release the third season of Outer Banks?
Another big question after the trailer is released is when will we have season 3? This seems to be what most people comment on. Included in this is @BanksNetflix who published:

Well, they’ve been working on the new season for a long time. My best guess, it will come out in mid-2023. celebrate season 3 renewal end of 2021, on launch external banks Even though they finished filming and we got that preview, it still hurts to have to wait indefinitely to really enjoy the show.
Retrospective, season 1 of OBX it came out in April 2020 and season 2 in July 2021. In my opinion it’s a quintessential summer show, so I guess it will be out early summer next year. But while we wait and theorize about the third season, you can go back and watch the first two seasons of external banks with a netflix subscription .
