The return of preventive measures. When Covid-19 re-emerged in France in August, the Arcachon hospital in the Gironde announced on Thursday that it would restore the mandatory use of a mask throughout the establishment.
“Due to the rebound in Covid-19 cases among the establishment’s staff and certain patients, as of this day the use of a mask is made mandatory for all people in the establishment,” the hospital said in a statement.
One visitor per room
Indeed, a slight increase in cases of contaminationand visits to the emergency room due to suspicion of infection by the virus, were observed by the Oscour network (Organization for the coordinated surveillance of emergencies).
“It is a preventive measure. As we are in a small coastal town, the idea is to protect our care capacities at this time when the hospital is full,” explained Julien Rossignol, structural director, to Actu Bordeaux. According to him, a dozen patients and a dozen staff members are currently infected with the virus that has caused a global health crisis in recent years.
In addition, the hospital has decided to limit visits “to one masked person per room, except for palliative care patients,” according to the press release. A measure justified by the director of the hospital center, before the Parisian, by the number of tourists present in the region who visit the patients. “The problem is that sometimes there are four or five in the room and they take off their mask once they’re in there.”
